Our
Practice in Action – Sustainable Venture Investing in Membrane
Technology
The
path to profitability is one which does not end at the point of market
entry, an IPO or acquisition / merger. SVI works with clean technology
developers through the foundational challenges of:
Creating
a value proposition;
- Developing a business
case;
- Advising on the
implementation of best practices;
- Securing public and
private financing for pre-commercial activities.
But it
is invariably at points of dramatic growth where these enterprises
confront their most significant decisions. SVI was engaged by a clean
technology entrepreneur to provide support in developing its value
proposition and building a sustainable venture for a membrane technology
with applications for fuel grade ethanol. Of significance to the client
was the capacity of SVI to identify:
Appropriate
technology partners;
- End users to enhance the
demonstration of the technology;
- Public sector funders
from across jurisdictions;
- Early stage technology
investors;
- A mechanism to structure
into agreements which ensured retention of intellectual property.
SVI
has been retained to provide ongoing advice and counsel to facilitate
domestic and international market penetration, leveraging SVI‘s
network of strategic partners.
The principals of SVI are currently
working with the client deploying a plan to spend $15 million of
investment to optimally demonstrate the capacity and applications of the
technology.
